After a few challenging years, World of Coffee Athens 2023 felt like a true homecoming for the global coffee community. From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere was electric. The halls were packed with familiar faces, new connections, incredible coffee, and an energy that reminded everyone of the pre-pandemic days. It genuinely felt as though the coffee world had picked up right where it left off.
Athens proved to be the perfect host city, bringing together producers, roasters, importers, baristas, equipment manufacturers, and coffee enthusiasts from around the world. Every corner of the exhibition buzzed with conversations, cuppings, product launches, and the excitement of discovering what’s next in specialty coffee.
One of the standout moments was the Process CATA Export Longboard Event. Process showcased what is arguably one of the industry’s most eye-catching packaging concepts. A nostalgic design inspired by classic VHS tapes. It was a fun reminder that great packaging can tell a story long before the coffee is brewed.
Another crowd favourite was the Standart Magazine booth, which became one of the most visited spaces at the show. Alongside their beautifully curated publications, they created an experience with a photobooth that kept visitors coming back throughout the event.
The competition stage was an emotional place to be – congratulations to Young Baek, who claimed the world title at Cup Tasters.
Beyond the stands, competitions, and product launches, what made World of Coffee Athens truly special was the feeling of being together again. It was a celebration of friendships, partnerships, shared passion, and the incredible resilience of the global coffee community.
We’re already looking forward to the next World of Coffee, but Athens 2023 will be remembered as the event that truly brought the industry back together.
